What Our Customers Say

Orlando Medical Marijuana Doctor

Amendment 2 and Senate Bill 8A has legalized medical marijuana in the state of Florida (MMJ). According to Florida state law, patients may qualify for medical marijuana if they suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, HIV/AIDS, glaucoma, epilepsy, Crohn’s disease, cancer, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and other conditions. Before purchasing cannabis from a medical marijuana dispensary or treatment center, patients in Orlando must have a medical marijuana (MMJ) card. At Woodstock Medicinal Doctors of Florida, we have years of experience helping patients acquire their MMJ cards in Orlando and the surrounding areas.

What is Medical Marijuana?

MMJ uses marijuana plants and the chemicals inside it to help treat or manage many different diseases and conditions. Cannabinoids refer to the active chemicals in medical marijuana, which are similar to what the body produces when you experience pain, move, try to recall events, or feel hungry. Modern observational studies suggest that cannabinoids can help relax tight muscles, slow tumor growth, reduce nausea caused by cancer chemotherapy, relieve pain, reduce anxiety, stimulate appetite to improve weight gain and do so much more.

About the 2016 Florida Amendment 2 and Senate Bill 8A

Also known as the Florida Medical Marijuana Legalization Initiative, the 2016 Amendment 2 officially legalized medical marijuana treatment in Florida. The passing of Senate Bill 8A (SB8A) also allowed licensed Florida physicians to prescribe medical marijuana in the course of treating patients. Patients who are prescribed medical marijuana (MMJ) by licensed physicians are allowed to procure MMJ from qualified dispensaries while undergoing treatment for certain debilitating medical conditions. Because registered MMJ dispensaries are regulated by the Department of Health, patients and caregivers must apply for and present the appropriate MMJ identification cards if they intend to obtain medical marijuana. It is important to note that the Florida Medical Marijuana Legalization Initiative law does not immunize violations of federal law as well as the non-medical production, possession, and use of cannabis.
